How we work

We are a mobile locksmith. We come to you.

What brings this up

In Montgomery County, lock repair comes up when a key starts dragging, a latch feels out of line, or a lock will not turn the way it did before. We see it on homes, cars, and business doors where daily use has worn a part down or something inside has shifted. In places like Telford and Souderton, weather and regular use can leave a lock stiff, loose, or partial to jamming. We come to you, open the lock, and look at what has stopped it from moving cleanly.

What we look at first

Before we touch anything, we look at the lock body, the key, the cylinder, and the way the hardware sits in the door or vehicle. We check for broken parts, bent pieces, worn parts, debris, and signs that the lock has been forced or stressed. On rim, mortise, and bored cylindrical locks, we separate a simple key issue from a failed internal part. That tells us whether we can put the lock back into working order or whether a part needs to be replaced.

The work, and where it stops

The work depends on what failed. We may replace a worn spring, a damaged cylinder part, or another piece that no longer moves as it should. We then fit the lock back together and test the turning action, the latch movement, and the way the lock responds to the key. What we do stops at the lock itself. We do not do workshop machining, and we do not do carpentry on the door, the jamb, the frame, the hinges, or the door edge.

Worth knowing

Wear builds slowly. A key rubs harder each week, a part inside starts to drag, and the change is small enough to ignore until the key stops turning or the lock catches at the wrong point. Dust, age, loose hardware, and repeated use can all add up. In Royersford and the surrounding area, that kind of wear can show up without warning, but the lock has been changing for a long time before it finally gives trouble at the keyway.

Questions about lock repair in Montgomery County

My front door key turns halfway, and this is an old mortise lock. Does that change the repair?

That old mortise lock does change the repair. We look at the mortise case, the cylinder, and the trim as separate parts because any one of them can be the piece that failed. Tell us whether the key stops, the thumbturn binds, or the outside knob feels loose. If the pocket in the door is damaged, that moves beyond lock repair and into door work.

I got locked out of my office, and the entry has a key on both sides. Does that affect what part you can fix?

A key on both sides does affect the job because there is no inside thumbturn to test from the room side first. We focus on the cylinder on each face, how the key behaves in each side, and whether the bolt retracts cleanly. Tell us if one side has been harder to turn than the other or if both changed at once.

My back door has a surface mounted rim lock, and now the outside key just spins. Is that repaired differently?

A surface mounted rim lock is repaired differently because the inside case and the outside cylinder connect through the door, and either side can be the failed part. We need to know whether the latch was sticking before the key began to spin and whether the inside knob still retracts it. If the connection between the outside cylinder and the inside case has failed, that points us to the lock hardware itself.

My store's metal door started scraping, and now the deadbolt will not throw with my key. Does the metal door matter?

The metal door matters because the problem may be in the lock, the cylinder, or the way the door is meeting the frame. We can repair or replace the failed lock part, but we do not do carpentry or reshape the opening. Tell us whether the key is hard to turn only when the door is shut, or if it binds the same way with the door open.
