How we work
We are a mobile locksmith. We come to you.
What brings this up
A lock replacement comes up when the cylinder is worn, the key has been lost, the lock has been forced, or the hardware no longer fits the way the door is used. We see it on homes, cars, and business doors across Delaware County, including places like Yeadon, Upland, and Marcus Hook. In those moments, the question is not just whether the lock turns, but whether the existing parts still belong on that door or need to be changed out for a new setup.
What we look at first
Before we touch anything, we look at the type of lock, how it is mounted, and whether the issue calls for a full replacement or only a cylinder change. We also check the door, the key pattern, and the way the hardware sits in place, since a lock can bind for reasons that do not start inside the lock itself. That check tells us what can be replaced as it stands and what needs to be left alone.
The work, and where it stops
The work itself is straightforward. We take out the lock and fit a new one, or we change the cylinder when that is the right fix for the hardware in place. We work with rim, mortise, and bored cylindrical locks, and we do not machine a cylinder, mill, ream, bush, file, or cut a keyway. Once the old part is out and the new one is set, we leave the lock and its key interface at that stage.
Worth knowing
People often try the key again and again, add oil, twist harder, or work at the cylinder with small tools before calling. Those steps can make the lock tighter, smear debris deeper inside, or leave worn parts more stressed than before. A key that already drags can bend, and a cylinder that has started to fail can seize under force. At that point, replacement is usually the cleaner path, with the lock opened, removed, and reset around the new cylinder.

Questions about lock replacement in Delaware County
My front door key turns all the way, but the deadbolt does not move. What does that point to?
That points to a problem inside the lock, not just a bad key. When the key turns but the bolt does not travel, the connection between the cylinder and the bolt may have failed, or the lock body may be worn or broken. If the issue is inside the lock, that is lock repair, which is a separate service we also do.
My office back door key goes in, but it sticks and is hard to pull back out. What could that mean?
That can point to a worn key, a worn cylinder, or a lock that is out of alignment in the door. The detail that matters is whether the key sticks before turning, after turning, or even when the bolt is already open. Tell us if the same key works smoothly in any other lock, because that helps narrow down whether the trouble is the key or that cylinder.
My storefront door lock feels loose, and the key makes the cylinder shift when I try to turn it. Is that a replacement sign?
That can be a replacement sign, because a cylinder that moves in the door can mean the lock is no longer being held securely. The problem may be at the cylinder itself or where it is retained in the lock. Tell us whether the movement is slight or obvious, and whether the key still turns the bolt or just turns the loose cylinder.
My old key still opens the side entrance after I changed who has access. What does that mean I need?
That points to changing the cylinder, not always replacing the entire lock. If a key that should no longer work still operates the door, the lock is still accepting that key pattern. We would want to know whether it is a deadbolt, a knob lock, a lever lock, or a mortise setup, because that affects which part is changed.
