How we work
We are a mobile locksmith. We come to you.
What brings this up
Across Lancaster County, smart lock calls come up when a keypad dies, a connected lock is acting up, or a homeowner wants to swap an older entry lock for one with code access. In Ephrata, Akron, and nearby towns, we see doors that already have the right opening but the hardware no longer fits how the place is used. We come to you and look at the door as it sits, because the lock on it, the bore, and the trim all matter before any replacement starts.
What we look at first
Before we change anything, we check the lock type, the door prep, the backset, the thickness, and whether the existing hardware is rim, mortise, or bored cylindrical. We also look at the latch, the strike, and the condition of the opening so the new lock can sit in the same place without guessing. If the door already has a keypad or connected unit, we review how it is mounted and how it is powered, then decide whether a direct swap makes sense.
The work, and where it stops
The work itself is a replacement job, not a home automation job. We remove the existing lock, fit the keypad or connected lock in its place, and line up the parts that belong to that opening. If the trim, lever, cylinder, or interior housing needs to be matched to the new unit, we handle that as part of the installation. We do not set up a network, connect it to a smart-home system, or do related programming beyond the lock hardware itself.
Worth knowing
The job changes based on what is already on the door. A bored cylindrical lock may give us a straightforward swap if the new smart unit is sized for that setup. A mortise lock can mean different inside and outside pieces that have to match the opening more closely. A rim lock calls for a different mounting arrangement and a different fit at the door face. We work with the hardware that is there and stop at the lock, the keypad, and the door opening.

Questions about smart lock installation in Lancaster County
I lost the key to my front deadbolt and want a keypad there instead, so what do you need to look at?
We need to see the lock that is there now, the door itself, and how the current hardware is laid out. We check whether the existing setup is a bored deadbolt, mortise lock, or rim lock, and whether the inside and outside pieces match the new unit’s mounting points. Tell us if the bolt rubs, sticks, or needs pressure on the door.
My office side door already has a lock, and I want a connected one, so where does your part end?
Our part ends with the physical lock on the door. We remove the existing hardware, fit the keypad or connected lock in its place, mount the inside and outside sections, and check the door and bolt movement at the opening. App setup, Wi-Fi pairing, account creation, and smart-home links are outside this service, and they are not covered by our other locksmith services.
My back door closes hard in damp weather, so what does putting a keypad lock there involve?
It involves more than swapping the inside and outside pieces. We look at how the current lock sits in the door, whether the bolt enters the opening cleanly, and whether the door needs pressure before the lock can throw or retract. Tell us if the key turns stiffly, if the thumbturn binds, or if the door has to be lifted to close.
My store’s rear entry has a mortise lock now, and I want keyless entry, so what parts of the door matter?
The existing lock body, trim, and hole layout matter most. We need to know what is installed now so we can match the new lock to that opening and mounting pattern instead of planning around a different door prep. A clear photo of the inside and outside helps, especially if there is a paddle, lever, or separate deadlatch above or below it.
